Ítem Acceso Abierto Síndrome del Túnel Carpiano. Revisión de la Literatura(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Rosado Flores, Byron Alexi; Espinoza Palomeque, Gustavo Adolfo; 0301984712Introduction: Carpal tunnel syndrome, also called median nerve palsy, is manifested by median nerve compression and leads to motor, and sensory manifestations, affecting physical, psychologicalic, social, and occupational levels. Objetive: To study the conservative therapeutic behavior of carpal tunnel syndrome. Methodology: A systematic review was conducted according to PRISMA criteria. Information was collected from medical databases such as Elsevier, PubMed, Cochrane, Medline, and SciELO. Results: Thirty-two clinical cases were included, showing oral pharmacological efficacy; however, the use of parenteral drugs is more effective, as well as the use of splints, providing an improvement of symptoms, and the application of electrotherapy has given favorable results in the patient clinical progress. Discussion: Several conservative treatments are suitable for relieving symptoms in patiens with carpal tunnel syndrome, both in the acute and chronic phases; these include the use of immobilizers (splints), oral medication, parenteral drugs, electro-physiotherapy, execution of neural displacement exercises and a combination of these. Due to the lack of studies, it has not been established which is the best combination of these techniques, so it is necessary to perform them on time and with high systematic quality.
