- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoInfluencia de los trastornos de la conducta alimentaria en la diabetes(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2024) Lozano Pérez , Daniela; Reivan Ortiz, Geovanny; 0106652530Diabetes Mellitus represents a chronic metabolic disease characterized by high blood glucose levels and presents complex challenges, especially at the intersection with eating disorders. This literature review examined how eating disorders impact diabetes. It was found that strict insulin management and precision in eating can cause comorbid eating disorders, being linked to behaviors such as diabulimia, anorexia, and binge eating, among others. These findings highlight the need for integrated and personalized therapeutic approaches that address both diabetes and eating disorders together, highlighting the importance of multidisciplinary teams in healthcare. Early detection and education for professionals and patients become crucial to prevent further complications. This study showed the relevance integrating mental and nutritional health in treating diabetes, supporting the need for public health policies that promote a comprehensive approach and advocating for further research into specific interventions for patients with these comorbidities.
