Ítem Acceso Abierto Causas asociadas a depresión en pacientes geriátricos. Revisión sistemática(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Lozado Munzón , Adrian Michael; Barrera Macancela, Johanna Margoth; 0302399019Introduction: Melancholia was established in 450 B.C. to refer to what is now known as depression. According to World Health Organization data, depression is the most common type, affecting a quarter of the population aged over 65. In 2019, global data estimated that depression ranges between 30% and 70%, predicting depressive states to be the second leading cause of death worldwide. Objective: To identify and analyze the primary causes associated with depression in geriatric patients through updated studies. Methodology: The research design was based on a descriptive, qualitative, and analytical method, conducted through the analysis of updated scientific studies using PRISMA declaration criteria, and these studies were ranked by Scimago Journal Rank in Q1, Q2, and Q3. Results and Conclusions: Reliable information was obtained from universities, hospitals, and world or national digital sources to analyze and comply with the inclusion and exclusion criteria proposed in the study. It was found that the causes of depression in geriatric patients are most prevalent in social factors, with affection of 40% of the population, specifically the lack of family support and illiteracy.
