Ítem Acceso Abierto Prevalencia y factores asociados a infección del sitio quirúrgico en el hospital Homero Castanier Crespo - Azogues, período mayo-octubre 2019(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2019) González Calle, Daniela Patricia; Romero Mogrovejo, María Gabriela; Romero Sacoto, Lilian Azucena; 0302712377; 0301863924; ., .Objective: To determine the prevalence and factors associated with surgical site infection at the Homero Castanier Crespo hospital in the city of Azogues in the period May-October 2019. Methodology: Descriptive and cross-sectional study to determine the prevalence and risk factors for infection of the related surgical site in patients undergoing gynecological-obstetric surgery. Universe and Sample: Census made up of all patients over 18 years of age, undergoing gynecological-obstetric interventions. Results: Regarding the sociodemographic variables, the following results were obtained: Mean age 31 years, 47.3% of secondary education, 72.7% of urban origin, and 52.7% married. The nutritional status according to BMI 41.3% have obesity, 80.7% do not have comorbidity, and 76% of patients do not have habits harmful to health. As for the procedure and type of surgery, 53.3% are caesarean sections, 38% are emergent surgeries, average surgery duration of 1 hour. 66% of the pre-surgical criteria are partially met, 99.3% of the intra-surgical criteria are partially met, and 100% of the post-surgical criteria are met. At 24 and 48 hours post-surgery, 86.7% and 99.3% present pain, respectively. Conclusions: Factors associated with SSI were found, there were no cases of infection at 24 postoperative hours. Surgical times are satisfactorily met before, during and after surgery.
