Ítem Acceso Abierto Estudios de imagen con medios de contraste en pacientes renales. Revisión sistemática(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Andrade Campoverde, Marcos Javier; Idrovo Vázquez, Víctor Aníbal; 0302973201Abstract: Using images with contrast material as a complement in medical practice has sharpened, facilitated, and corroborated clinical suspicions in diagnosing different pathologies. CKD, intra-arterial administration, and the amount of contrast medium are the main risk factors for developing acute kidney injury in kidney patients. Objective: To conduct a detailed systematic review on administering contrast materials in patients with underlying renal pathology and explore their risk-benefit and how to reduce their impact at the renal level. Methodology: Systematic review of documentary, non-experimental, and descriptive design, structured according to PRISMA standards. Results: Some studies deny the relationship between the development of AKI and iodinated contrast materials (14%). Other studies consider that intravenous contrast materials in patients with a GFR of more than 45 ml/min/1.73 have no risk of presenting AKI (29%). Finally, most studies determine that when there is a GFR less than 45 ml/min/1 .73, the risk of AKI is higher when it is induced by contrast, dialysis, or renal failure (57%). Conclusions: Using contrast materials in kidney patients carries a risk of developing contrast-induced nephropathy. However, the risk can be minimized by taking appropriate precautions, evaluating prior kidney function and intravenous hydration, and choosing safer contrast materials, allowing imaging studies when necessary to diagnose and treat of various diseases.
