This study aims to determine the adoption of Industry 4.0 in organizational management in the commercial sector in the city of Cuenca. A non-experimental, descriptive-correlational, cross-sectional research was conducted, applying a questionnaire on adopting Industry 4.0, composed of thirty-three Likert-type questions. Eleven variables were identified, whose relationships led to the formulation of ten hypotheses forming a structural equation model, measured using the partial least squares (PLS) technique. The survey was administered to 376 workers from different companies in the commercial sector of Cuenca. The model analysis results indicate a positive influence on Industry 4.0 adoption from mobile applications, cybersecurity, big data, 3D printing, cost analysis, and robotics, with no influence from the variable social networks. In conclusion, integrating Industry 4.0 into organizational management of the commercial sector in Cuenca, Ecuador, can offer a significant competitive advantage to local companies, provided that challenges are adequately addressed and the opportunities presented by this new era of digitization and automation are seized.

In this case, the focus is on the food service industry in Cuenca, as this sector is highly dependent on direct interaction with customers. This allows for a comprehensive and representative evaluation of the impact on business performance. This study centers on analyzing how service quality influences the competitiveness of MSMEs, exploring crucial aspects such as customer service, product quality control practices, and post-sale follow-up. The methodology employed was descriptive and non-experimental, using a mixed quantitative and qualitative approach with a cross-sectional design; a questionnaire composed of 9 items for data collection was implemented. The results revealed the importance of improving staff training, implementing appropriate technologies, and strengthening the organizational culture oriented toward customer satisfaction. These findings provide MSMEs with tools to optimize their internal processes and improve their positioning in the local market. Likewise, the results of the analysis of customer service quality in MSMEs in the industrial food sector in Cuenca are essential because they provide information on areas for improvement and opportunities for growth. This allows companies to identify and address deficiencies and improve operational efficiency, thus strengthening their competitive positioning.

Consequently, the financial impact generated to date was investigated. Various studies show that this type of impact within a company can generate different results. This article aims to determine the financial impact of industrial mass-consumption companies located in Cuenca through quantitative analysis, establishing the profitability of products for the companies selected under study, which have implemented the transition from plastic to biodegradable packaging due to surveys that resulted in a profitable economic/financial impact.

However, previous research indicates that a lack of knowledge in this area limits the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises. In this regard, this article aims to analyze quality management and its influence on the business growth of microenterprises in the meat product sales sector in the city of Cuenca. To this end, it employs a quantitative and descriptive approach to explore the relationship between quality management and business growth through multiple linear correlation analysis. The results underscore that operational controls and performance evaluation, as dimensions of quality management, are determining factors for business growth. Furthermore, continuous improvement and efficient resource management are suggested as key areas for future research and business practices. In conclusion, this study supports the critical relevance of quality management for sustainable economic development in the specific sector, providing a solid foundation for future research and business strategies.

In this way, organizations have opted for the use of incentives as a practice to motivate employees and improve their satisfaction. Consequently, job satisfaction in companies is a crucial factor, and it is necessary to understand how incentives are related to it. In this context, this research’s central problem is understanding the satisfaction generated by work incentives in the seven savings and loan unions located in the canton of Saraguro. The methodology was descriptive, with a non-experimental, quantitative, and cross-sectional design. It included the collection of data through surveys administered to employees of the different savings and loan unions studied, followed by an analysis through the construction of indicators. This resulted in a job satisfaction index of 78%, with medium-high indexes in appreciation for the company and vacations, but low indexes in salary and pension plan or external insurance. It is possible to conclude that it is necessary to strengthen these last factors.

The production, sales, customer, finished product, and operational processes are studied; the Bizagi Modeler 4.0 software is used for modeling, optimizing, and proposing improvements in the company's processes. With the proposed optimization in the processes, bottlenecks are eliminated, resources are optimized, and efficient and effective management is achieved, generating an added value to PROVIAL.

The objective is to identify the key elements that shape the working environment in agricultural companies in Azuay, including aspects such as work environment, interpersonal relationships, leadership style, job motivation and satisfaction, conflict management, and the perception of performance. This qualitative methodology uses a descriptive design, convenience sampling, observation, and surveys to collect primary data and explore the participants’ experiences, perceptions, and interpretations. Three agricultural companies were selected for the study because of their relevance in the sector and their importance in the region. The results demonstrate a variety of experiences in the studied companies, highlighting the substantial impact of elements such as the leadership approach, interpersonal interactions, and communication on shaping the working environment. Organizations that adopted participative methodologies, transparent communication, and employee recognition showed more rewarding and cooperative work environments. However, certain challenges were also recognized in particular entities, such as autocratic behaviors and lack of recognition, highlighting the need for specific interventions to improve the work environment and promote employee well-being.

In this context, this article aims to determine the impact of organizational climate on the work performance of employees in commercial enterprises in the canton of Cuenca. The methodology used is quantitative, with a descriptive and correlational approach. The study sample comprises 90 workers from commercial enterprises in the canton of Cuenca, Ecuador, engaged in economic activities, including wholesale and retail sales of a variety of products and services, specifically excluding motor vehicles and motorcycles, under categories CIIU G-45, G-46, and G-47. Results indicate that organizational climate elements influencing work performance are communication and leadership. This empirical evidence concludes that organizational climate significantly impacts work performance, and it is necessary to promote the essential conditions for it to be positive and enhance employee productivity.

A quantitative methodology with a descriptive, non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational approach was employed using the analytical-deductive method. The sample comprised 92 employees from pharmaceutical companies supervised by the Superintendence of Companies, Securities, and Insurance. The chi-square test results indicate that organizational environment components, such as communication, recognition, interpersonal relationships, physical environment, and delegation of tasks, positively impact job performance. The main conclusion is that employees consider training plans, wellness programs, recognition, and incentives to be only moderately effective and that the equipment provided for their tasks contributes moderately to the development of their activities.

A quantitative methodology with a descriptive, explanatory, non-experimental, and documentary approach was used, employing an inferential design. The sample comprised 68 companies selected through simple random sampling, and data collection was conducted through documentary analysis on each selected entity's official and private websites. The results obtained through multiple linear regression analysis indicate that the dimensions of e-commerce that impact sales in commercial enterprises are the website and social media. This empirical evidence concludes that they influence significantly; however, including purchase options does not reflect an impact in the simulated model.

Worldwide, it is analyzed that employees are at risk due to their emotional balance; most companies do not care about the stability of their employees, and that is the beginning of the distrust and ethics maintained within a business. In relation to the presented problem, this research aims to analyze the elements of organizational communication and their impact on work performance in the companies of the commercial sector, which contributes to the work team and motivates them to increase productivity with effectiveness and efficiency in the delegated activities. The Salvador Pacheco Mora company is in the city of Cuenca, province of Azuay. This organization is dedicated to the commercialization of quality household appliances. It comprises eight collaborators in different areas; therefore, all employees were used as the population. After collecting the information through the application of the assessment tool (survey), the data are tabulated, analyzed, and interpreted. Consequently, it was found that only 37.50% of the employees believe that effective communication takes place within the designated channels, considering the different types of internal and external communication. Thus, communication deficiencies in some way affect the work performance of 77% of the employees; thus, developing and implementing a communication plan to increase productivity is recommended.

It transforms how goods and services are produced and consumed, which demands new skills and competencies from individuals. The research problem is that organizations have influenced Higher Education Institutions (HEI) to train professional profiles closer to the challenges of the digital era and Industry 4.0, where human capital formation is essential. The university sector plays a pivotal role in academic training and seeks to orient it towards technological and innovative competencies to meet the demands of the labor market. The research proposes the design of innovative competencies in the human talent of the university sector focused on Industry 4.0. A mixed methodology combining qualitative and quantitative elements addresses the topic, including a systematic literature review and a survey applied to the Catholic University of Cuenca teachers and administrative staff. The results achieved in this research reveal that HEI need to implement innovative work capabilities within their human talent to face the current market. In conclusion, the research highlights the importance of developing innovative competencies in the human talent of the university sector to face the challenges of Industry 4.0, and it proposes a methodology to address this issue

Towards this problem, it is possible to use business simulators that allow the exploitation of information in virtual environments for optimal business management, thanks to Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Therefore, this research aims to create and manage an enterprise in a virtual environment in Cuenca - Ecuador, through the software KU 12.0 Business Simulator. Its development requires a technical and documentary study, the analytical-synthetic method (to observe the optimal scenarios for the venture), the inductive-deductive method (to know the particularities of each of the scenarios), and then the financial study (to infer concrete and detailed solutions). The results showed the project’s profitability with an NPV of $10,583.77 and an IRR of 16.25%. It is concluded that the virtual business simulation environment positively influences the creation of viable ventures and their business management; it has been successfully tested through the financial evaluation of the project.

The primary function of these organizations is to supply their range of medicines and various products to the entire Ecuadorian population. However, in recent years, the situation shifted due to the global impact of the virus from 2021 to 2022. At the national macro level, pharmacies have strengthened to ensure the continued supply of essential products and services during this unprecedented period. This article aims to compare the financial statements of various pharmaceutical companies and offer insights into their economic situation, particularly in the financial area. The methodology employed here is quantitative, constituting an exploratory study in which the financial data was sourced from the public platform of The Superintendence of Companies. The findings reveal that the Ecuadorian Pharmaceutical Distributor Group (Difare by its Spanish acronym) demonstrated increased assets, liabilities, and shareholders’ equity in both periods (2021-2022). In contrast, Farmaenlace experienced growth in assets and liabilities but a reduction in shareholders’ equity. Through the DuPont method, Difare achieved an average of 4.55% over the two years, closely followed by Farmaenlace with an average of 4.33% —almost equivalent to its direct competitor—.

Therefore, its effective management is vital for business development and competitiveness. Aligned with this perspective, this research aims to design a Human Resources management model as a business strategy for a 4-star hotel in Cuenca - Ecuador. It is based on analyzing this establishment’s recruitment, selection, evaluation, and training processes. To achieve this, a mixed research approach was utilized. The techniques encompassed an interview conducted with the Administrative Manager and a survey administered to a population of 40 hotel employees. The results reveal a lack of defined types and means of recruitment, knowledge, skills, and medical tests in the selection process. Moreover, performance evaluations are not carried out for all employees, and incentives or recognition for outstanding performance are absent. Consequently, a Human Resource Management Model is proposed, incorporating strategic processes aimed at identifying and developing the skills and competencies of the personnel to achieve their satisfaction and, consequently, business success.

The adoption of e-commerce strategies has been beneficial in one way or another for the company's sales, so the boom that continues to grow is favorable to increase its income, initially it may show profit or loss, but they are foundation years that will demonstrate the beneficial changes that this tool generates. Technology facilitates the catalogs of the companies and attracts the attention of the target market. In this regard, the company under study shows that sales increase by providing security, speed, and agility in the processes, so that customers demonstrate their acceptance and loyalty.

For this purpose, a survey was applied to 37 managers of restaurants and cafeterias located in the Calle Larga area of Cuenca, Ecuador; then, multiple and simple linear regression model were used for their respective analyses. The results show that one of the three functional strategies presented reflects the significance and a positive relationship with the sales level. In contrast, according to the applied model, the other two do not show a significant degree. In this sense, it is concluded that marketing strategies have a significant application in all the companies surveyed to help increase sales. Likewise, it is pointed out that financial and production strategies do not have a linear correlation with the dependent variable.
