In the pursuit of better development within the environments of individuals with ASD, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is employed. Objective: To examine the effectiveness of the ABA method in children with autism spectrum disorder. Method: A documentary review and bibliographic research was conducted with a descriptive qualitative approach. Scientific articles published from 2018 to 2023 in Spanish, English, and Portuguese were considered for the inclusion criteria. Results: The effectiveness of the ABA method in treating Autism Spectrum Disorder depends significantly on factors such as individuality, symptoms, environment, identification of the condition, and therapists' skills. Conclusion: According to several authors, ABA in the treatment of ASD helps to substitute problematic behaviors and increase positive ones. In addition, they emphasize the importance of early recognition of the disorder and mention that early intervention can lead to more favorable results in modifying behaviors and improving overall development. On the other hand, various authors indicate that its application is highly invasive and goes against the real needs of the autistic infant, hindering his or her development.
