A mixed-method approach was employed to collect, select, evaluate, and summarize information from scientific articles to minimize biases and obtain reliable results using the PRISMA methodology under reliability, credibility, and transferability criteria. The research question focused on how Physical Education teaching styles motivate participation in physical activity? was defined, and a search was performed in several databases. Data were registered using bibliographic cards and Mendeley for APA 7th edition format. The results reveal that teaching styles in PE are classified as controlling, autonomy-generating, and mixed, each with its approach to learning. Controlling styles involve repetition and teacher control, while autonomy-generating styles encourage active participation. It is concluded that the choice of teaching style in PE should be based on student needs and educational objectives rather than the superiority of any one method; studies indicate that combining styles enhances motivation and participation, highlighting the importance of continuous teacher training; factors such as teamwork, social skills, and cooperative learning are essential for motivation in physical activity, although traditional methods prevail. Gamification and inclusive teaching are effective in adapting learning to individual needs. Keywords: teaching styles, physical education, motivation, participation, students
