Revisión Sistemática(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Rodríguez Vintimilla, David Rafael; Ávila Narváez, Eduardo; 0302069372; ., .Introduction: The most common injury to the humerus is fracture, which constitutes approximately 5% of all body fractures. They occur in all age groups; however, there is a higher prevalence in people over 65 and in young adults. Objective: To determine the current paradigms of humerus fractures based on the available scientific evidence. Method and technique: A systematic search and review of scientific articles was conducted by using the available network services, databases, or virtual libraries such as SciELO, Cochrane, Redalyc, Scribd, Medigraphic, Elsevier, as well as Google Scholar and Medical Societies of Traumatology, Orthopedics, and Radiology, which met the inclusion criteria, bibliography published in Spanish - English since 2018, and which was about the topic of current paradigms of humeral fractures. Subsequently, a database was created where the articles selected for the study were classified according to relevance, establishing relevant similarities and differences. Results: This type of fracture is classified according to the location of the lesion as proximal, diaphisarian, and distal, with proximal ones being the most frequent, with percentages ranging from 45 to 75%. Clinical manifestations are frequent including pain, edema, swelling, crackles, deformity, impossibility, and decreased mobility. The diagnostic test of choice is plain radiography. Treatment can be conservative or surgical, depending on the patient’s characteristics, functional demand, and the skill of the traumatologist.
