This research aimed to investigate the prevalence of sexual abuse in Latin American children and adolescents, analyze the psychological consequences, and establish models of therapeutic intervention used in child and adolescent victims of sexual abuse. The methodology was developed following a qualitative approach, employing a descriptive literature review design using digital databases such as Dialnet and Scielo related to the psychological consequences and psychotherapeutic intervention models on the issue of sexual abuse in minors. The results showed that the prevalence rates of sexual abuse remained high between 2020 and 2021, with women being the most affected. This is a matter of concern within the health area, whose consequences generate eating disorders, sexual dysfunction, and depressive states. In addition, there are different intervention models with positive outcomes, with the cognitive-behavioral model standing out as the one with the highest percentage of scientific validity. Thus, it is concluded that therapeutic intervention plans are beneficial to support the victim in overcoming trauma; the most effective is cognitive-behavioral therapy since there is scientific evidence of its effectiveness in the short, medium, and long term.
