- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoDesarrollo de una guía de soluciones integradas para la prevención de patologías de humedad en cimientos y muros: el papel crucial del dren perimetral y geotextil en la Ciudad de Cuenca(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2024) Cabrera González, Pamela Sthephany; Illisaca Gallego, Kevin Patricio; Quesada Molina, Juan Felipe; 0150558773; 0106824980This document studies the pathologies related to humidity in the walls and foundations of houses in Cuenca, Ecuador, due to the water table caused by the four rivers that cross the city. This situation causes water leaks that are dangerous to building structures generating significant challenges for their stability and durability. Additionally, antecedents reveal poor construction practices for managing humidity in this region, exacerbating structural problems and accelerating building deterioration. The research is justified by implementing practical solutions, such as drainage systems and geotextiles, to mitigate pathologies derived from the water table. These solutions seek to preserve the architectural heritage of Cuenca and offer replicable strategies for other regions with similar problems. Data was collected through convenience sampling in five accessible houses with humidity problems located near natural bodies of water or in areas with high topography. Finally, the research culminates with developing a practical guide on applying drainage systems to solve the problems observed during the technical visits, focusing on Cuenca's most common types of foundations, such as isolated footings and continuous stone walls, and providing recommendations that can be effectively implemented to reduce and prevent damage caused by moisture.
