- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoHiperinsulismo en neonatos de madres diabéticas(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2021) Fernández Patiño, Tannya Katherine; González Cárdenas, Juan Manuel; 0350255352; ., .Background: Neonatal hyperinsulinism is the most common cause of hypoglycemia and is often associated with risk factors including gestational diabetes, prematurity, and hypocalcemia. Objective: To analyze the relationship between hyperinsulinism in newborns and diabetes in pregnant women. Methodology: A bibliographical review research. A comprehensive revision will be carried out, including articles, systematic reviews, guidelines and grey literature, related to newborn hyperinsulinism and its connection with maternity diabetes, published from 2016 to 2021. Results: Factors related to neonatal hyperinsulinism and maternal diabetes are: hyperinsulinism diagnosis, consumption of diets containing fruits and vegetables, a moderate intake of lean proteins and fats, grains and low-sugar foods, and insulin, metformin and glibenclamide for glycemic control by the mother, intrauterine growth limitation, children with temporary hyperinsulinism, and birth weight >90th percentile in babies of mothers with gestational diabetes. Conclusions: Hyperinsulinism is related to pregnancy diabetes influenced by genetic alterations, as well as factors related with growth and child development after birth, in addition to breastfeeding delay.
