- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoEstilos docentes y motivación/participación en Educación Física: Una perspectiva desde la revisión bibliográfica(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2024) Serrano Serpa, Ángel Andrés; Ávila Mediavilla, Carlos Marcelo; 0302429972This research aims to identify teaching styles in Physical Education (PE) as controllers or generators of autonomy that motivate the practice of physical activity via a literature review from 2017 to 2023. A mixed-method approach was employed to collect, select, evaluate, and summarize information from scientific articles to minimize biases and obtain reliable results using the PRISMA methodology under reliability, credibility, and transferability criteria. The research question focused on how Physical Education teaching styles motivate participation in physical activity? was defined, and a search was performed in several databases. Data were registered using bibliographic cards and Mendeley for APA 7th edition format. The results reveal that teaching styles in PE are classified as controlling, autonomy-generating, and mixed, each with its approach to learning. Controlling styles involve repetition and teacher control, while autonomy-generating styles encourage active participation. It is concluded that the choice of teaching style in PE should be based on student needs and educational objectives rather than the superiority of any one method; studies indicate that combining styles enhances motivation and participation, highlighting the importance of continuous teacher training; factors such as teamwork, social skills, and cooperative learning are essential for motivation in physical activity, although traditional methods prevail. Gamification and inclusive teaching are effective in adapting learning to individual needs. Keywords: teaching styles, physical education, motivation, participation, students

This is because there is no professional in the area of Physical Education, even less a specific coach for this collective sport; consequently, children and adolescents learn the technique incorrectly. Later, the process of unlearning and relearning the technical fundamentals must be carried out. The objective was to apply for a basketball fundamental training program through active methodologies to determine the impact on the appropriation of these fundamentals in the U12 category in students from the “Juan Benigno Vela” Educational Unit in Sageo parish in Biblián canton. The study was quasi-experimental; the evaluation instrument was the observation form applied before and after the program so that improved basketball training could be evidenced. The population was 37 students who participated in the program for eight weeks. The results show percentage changes between the initial and final observation of the two study variables, which supports that the application of the basketball fundamentals program significantly contributes to the formation of competitive players at a national level.

Soccer coaches are busy training the whole team equally, finding shortcomings in the flight technique of goalkeepers. This research aims to apply a manual of specific drills to improve the flying technique of the goalkeepers of the soccer school “Guacamayos FC.” The methodology was quasi-experimental, with a descriptive scope, longitudinal study, and quantitative approach, applying the observation sheet before and after using the manual of drills. It is possible to show an improvement in the goalkeepers of the soccer school regarding the flight technique. The population and sample consist of 15 goalkeepers aged between 9 and 12 years who participated in two 50-minute training sessions from Monday to Friday for eight weeks. Finally, the results show percentage changes between the pre-test and post-test of the two study variables, which determined that applying the manual of specific drills for goalkeepers helped improve the flight technique and, therefore, the team's results.
- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoMetodología para el aprendizaje de los fundamentos técnicos del baloncesto en niños(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2021) Chérrez Vintimilla, María Victoria; Ávila Mediavilla, Carlos Marcelo; 0302009089; ., .This study was developed in the city of Azogues, thus, it was identified that there existed limited methodology related to the learning of basketball technical fundamentals in children; additionally, there are only a few clubs that are in charge of providing training to basketball players. This research aimed to identify whether the coaches know and apply the teaching and learning methodology related to the technical fundamentals of basketball. The research was non-experimental with a descriptive, qualitative focus and transversal. The population was one coach and fifteen athletes, men and women between eight and ten years old, an interview and two observation cards were applied to the coach, on the other hand, one observation card was applied to the athletes, the SPSS program was used to conduct the statistical analysis. In conclusion, it can be determined based on the results of the study that the coach knows two methods such as global and analytical for the teaching-learning process of basketball technical fundamentals and rarely applies these methods, that is, 46.6% and never 20, 10%, therefore, it can be inferred that they dominate a few methods and-in the training session it is evident that their application is limited.
- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoMetodología para el aprendizaje de los fundamentos técnicos del voleibol en la Federación Deportiva del Azuay(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2021) Guamán Zhinin, Oscar Andrès; Ávila Mediavilla, Carlos Marcelo; 0302562038; ., .The objective of this research is to identify the level of knowledge and application of the teaching-learning methodology of the volleyball technical fundamentals of volleyball. The study corresponds to a non-experimental design, with descriptive scope, qualitative approach, and and cross-sectional. Forty-seven athletes of the junior and pre-juvenile categories, aged between 8 and 15 years of age, participated in the study, an observation form of technical fundamentals for volleyball players was applied. In the same way an interview and an observation form were applied to the coach of the Azuay Sports Federation. The results showed that the coaches are prepared and the methodology applied is limited since they omit some of the technical fundamentals of volleyball and recommend those good athletes should be trained from an early age of 8 years old, as opposed to a person who has already fully developed person who leaves the process after a certain period of time. On the other hand, it was found that 50% of the athletes have a good performance and the other 50% have an intermediate and regular performance. The study concludes that volleyball requires a series of knowledge and learning of the technical fundamentals to have a good performance and practice of this sport. The athletes should be well instructed by their coaches complying with all the processes and teaching methodologies so that they develop sport motor skills and become high-level competitive athletes.
- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoMETODOLOGÍA PARA EL APRENDIZAJE DE LOS FUNDAMENTOS TÉCNICOS EN EL PATINAJE DE VELOCIDAD(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2024) Argudo Calle, César Bolívar; Ávila Mediavilla, Carlos Marcelo; 0302391628This research originates from the limited knowledge of the teaching-learning methods of the technique and the scarce application by the coaches in training sessions; thus, this research aims to identify the methodologies applied by coaches in the teaching-learning process of the technical fundamentals of speed skating, through applied research for the methodological improvement of skating technique. For this, a non-experimental, exploratory, and descriptive study was proposed. It was cross-sectional, non-probabilistic, and intentional. The population comprised 33 individuals and a census criterion, to whom an instrument validated by expert opinion with ten research variables was applied. It was found that coaches partially know and apply teaching-learning methodologies of speed skating in such a way that 46% of respondents know and apply the demonstrative-explanatory methodology. Additionally, Chi-Square statistical tests were performed with values lower than the p-value of 0.05 (Bilateral Asymptotic Sig. 0.000 < 0.05), confirming statistically significant dependencies that provide certainty of improvements in the performance of speed skating sports practices. It is concluded that coaches know and apply the methodologies; however, bivariate dependencies should be taken into account to improve professional performance indicators significantly. Objective: To analyze university students' physical activity levels during the pandemic through the IPAQ questionnaire short version to determine PA indicators and establish solution proposals in subsequent studies. Methodology: It was based on the positivist paradigm, non-experimental design, descriptive scope, quantitative approach, and transversal cut. The population comprised 140 students of the Pedagogy of Physical Activity and Sports Career at the Catholic University of Cuenca Azogues Campus; the sample was 103 students with a 95% confidence level and 5% margin of error, and the sampling applied was non-probabilistic by accessibility. Results: The main findings showed that 30% of men had a low activity level, 44% a moderate physical activity level, and 26% a vigorous physical activity level; on the other hand, 27% of women showed a low physical activity level, 58% moderate, and 15% vigorous. Conclusion: It was evidenced that there were differences in the physical activity levels between the males and females. A higher percentage of male students formed part of the low physical activity level; in contrast, women had a higher prevalence in the moderate physical activity level; in the vigorous physical activity level, men had a higher percentage with 26%, over women with 15%.

A literature review analyzes traditional and scientific approaches applied by federations and sports clubs, highlighting the importance of proper coach training and the crucial role of Physical Education teachers in the early identification of talents. The lack of infrastructure and resources and political apathy are significant obstacles to sports development in the country. The study proposes combining natural observation methods with scientific evaluations to improve talent detection accuracy. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of implementing effective public policies and increasing investment in coach training. These measures aim to optimize selection processes and ensure the comprehensive development of athletes, contributing to greater sports success nationally and internationally. - ÍtemAcceso AbiertoSelección y orientación de posibles talentos deportivos en la Unidad Educativa 16 de Abril(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Sucuzhañay Sacta, Darwin Israel; Ávila Mediavilla, Carlos Marcelo; 0302632724; ., .Sports talent selection in the Cañar province presents some deficiencies; sports organizations only conduct initiation processes with children and adolescents who come voluntarily to train and, on a few occasions, with possible talents who would have a greater projection to obtain results at the international level. The objective was to apply the search and selection process of sports talents, through anthropometric measurements and physical efficiency tests, to children and adolescents to elaborate a database that permits sports organizations at the formative level to develop groups with outstanding somatotypes and capacities. The research was non-experimental, descriptive in scope, quantitative approach, and cross-sectional. The study sample comprised 121 students aged 10- 13 from the 16 de Abril Educational Unit. The instrument used was the Ecuadorian National Sports Federation (FEDENADOR by its Spanish acronym) test battery. The results indicate different sports based on the tests, orienting students towards different sports disciplines; 42.1% are suggested to practice any sport according to height, while 59.9% are proposed for disciplines such as weightlifting, powerlifting, judo, wrestling, and athletics based on Body Mass Index. In addition, 60.3% are suggested for athletics and taekwondo according to BMI, and 54.5% are recommended for sports such as weightlifting, powerlifting, and athletics based on their wingspan. The results can be helpful for Cañar sports organizations to prepare possible talents with projection to have results at the international level.
