A bibliographical documentary methodology was used. The information was obtained from scientific articles available in the scientific database of the Catholic University of Cuenca, such as scientific journals of impact, in repositories like Dialnet, SciELO, Redalyc Scientific Information System, Google Scholar, and Web of Science, among others. With an exhaustive review, six scientific articles related to this research topic were selected. The most relevant contributions were: Oral language stimulation increases in the classroom context; The intervention in lexical development and phonological processing have an impact on the improvement of SLD, and The application of the strategy for speech therapy in children with language delay constitutes a need for corrective care. Based on the analysis of the results mentioned above, it is concluded that SLD can affect children's academic performance, as well as their emotional aspect, word articulation difficulties, and language production and expression problems. The most impactful strategies are early reading, speech therapy, and intervention with oral language stimulation programs
